Buddhist Festivals & Special Events

At the LBC we celebrate a number of traditional Buddhist festivals – for instance the Enlightenment of the Buddha. These festivals often have a strong element of collective practice, meditation and ritual. They are an excellent way to meet and practise with others.

We also have special events such as Buddhist rituals to mark the full moon nights, and Mandala Community Evenings – where people who regularly attend the LBC meet with the council of trustees to discuss the direction of the centre.

19 Sep Padmasambhava Day

The Urban Retreat concludes with our annual festival to celebrate Padmasambhava. Padmasambhava took Buddhism to Tibet. He faced, and then converted its gods and demons into guardians of the Dharma. We too must face and transform our inner demons and our god-like yearnings, and take the Dharma into the unknown country of ourselves.

Led by Subhadramati and Maitreyabandhu. Bring vegetarian lunch to share.
Sun 10am- 10pm. Dana / donation.
